Listening to music and the record companies
I love listening to music. And when the Internet came along in the 1990s and you can listen to music for free I thought I was in Nirvana. Of course the state did not last forever as the rules changed around downloading music and licensing. And I believe this will probably healthy as the free-for-all that was going on in the Napster days was really not appropriate. It was fun while asked it, but the idea that all music should be free for everybody and forever is really not workable. There needs to be some monetary incentive for people to sell records. However I also feel that the record companies had gone too far. Some glad to see that the free music movement took root and made some serious change in this industry. I feel like when CDs came out in the 80s, you had to essentially high your entire music collection over again. They figured out a way make us spend money tree buying records this time in the form of CDs. So in some senses, the free music movement of the 90s was payback to the music industry for what they did to us in the 80s. So I’m glad to see their profits decline from this perspective. But mostly I’m glad that we can get free music now from clubs, and do it legally. If you pay a small fee to join a music club you can listen all the free music you want. No limits no licenses. This is cool and is new and it is completely legal.
