Janet Evans last world record may be broken in Beijing
At 17 years old, Janet Evans’s three gold medal victories made her an international celebrity, and early 20 years later, Janet Evans has never really stepped out of the spotlight. Evans know that this summer in Beijing her world 800-meter freestyle record, the last of her world records, will likely be broken, due in some part to a high tech swim suit developed in part by NASA engineers.
"I would be lying if I said it didn’t (disappoint me)," Evans said. "I just hope they make sure whoever breaks it is clean. Hopefully it will be someone from the U.S. But I’ve come to terms with it."
