Will the Stock Market Crash like the 1929 crash?
Since the stock market has been see-sawing so much lately, people are wondering will the stock market crash and if so will it be as bad as the 1929 crash.
First, it depends on how you define “crash.” Depending on how you measure it, at this point we could say that the market has crashed already.
That said, if we compare it to the stock market crash of 1929 which coincided with The Great Depression where stocks declined to 25% of their peak, then the stock market has not crashed and probably will not crash to that extent. There are multiple safeguards in place preventing or inhibiting a crash like the one in 1929; we live in a different kind of society.
