Background checks are necessary
An agency background search is a background check completed by an outside agency contracted by a company and includes a social security number and criminal conviction verification for counties where the employee/applicant worked and resided. The fee for the background check is included as part of any application fees. When applying for a job that will allow you to work with children, a background check is necessary to prove that you have never committed a crime against a minor. The information obtained in the optional background check is not provided to anyone, except the hiring official, outside the Human Resources Office except as is authorized by the VPFSS. Once a background check is completed the results are automatically emailed or faxed to your authorized employees.
