Do You Need A Commercial License To Drive A Class A Motorhome?

class A motorhomes are big.  At the high end they’re as big as a full size bus.  The reason being is that because they’re exactly that – a converted bus.

Driving one of these monsters is just a bit different the driving around in a car or SUV so you may be wondering if you need to get a special license to drive one.

Surprisingly, the answer in most states is no.   If the state you live in has deemed you qualified to drive a car, they also have deemed you qualified to drive a class a motorhome.

Of course, just because you can doesn’t mean you should.  They’re big, and handle much different especially in bad weather than anything you’re used to driving unless you already have a commercial driver’s license.  Fortunately, there are plenty of training programs available for motor home owners so that they can learn how to safely operate their RVs safely.
