Breathing for stress management
Breathing is frequently recommended as a technique for stress management. It’s an important part of meditation, martial arts, yoga and many types of relaxation programs. But the complicated and ritualistic breathing systems imported from the East do not suit everybody and they often result in overkill. All it takes to relieve stress is gentle and slow breathing without worrying about complicated timing and other details. Just a minute or two can relieve a stressful situation while 10 to 15 minutes a day of slow breathing brings lasting stress relief and even lower blood pressure.
