Possible negatives to Tax Abatement are that government can use the eminent domain law to stimulate the economy. Eminent domain is when the State uses or abuses its power over all the property within its territory to appropriate your property for public use. There are some States where this power can be granted to public and private companies. A lot of times when States give companies this type of power are like utility companies such as cable, gas, electricity companies in order to run telephone, gas, power, water lines. I guess the only salvation to this in the USA is that the 5th amendments empower the owner of any land or property to be entitles to reasonable compensation.
