Electronic data mangement for the shop floor improves profits

My brother in law runs a manufacturing company that supplies computer data parts. You would think that since the are a computer industry supplier, they would be using the latest technology to run their business, wouldn’t you?

Well until recently they only used computers in the office and ran their production floor using print outs to pick and pack orders.
The were awarded a large account though and decided that something had to change in order to complete the orders on time, so they hooked up electronic data management for the shop floor.
With computer terminals that can pull up any order information at 3 spots on their floor, production runs fast and they don’t lose the order papers any more. It has increased production rates to at least 50% so far!
