Online Art Auctions: They are Great, But Do Your Homework!
Do you love to buy or invest in art? If so, have you ever bought from an online auction? online art auctions have much of the same excitement -and risks- as a live auction. You have to do some research on the item you are thinking of bidding on. With an online auction, you should also check out the reputation of the seller. Ebay, for example, and most other online auctions, rate sellers based on their past histories. If you want to sell online, for the above reason, you should work to build your reputation. It’s better to be honest and, if there is a misunderstanding, to give in a little, even if it means losing a sale or granting a refund. In the long run, it improves everyone’s experience, as well as your own business. For buyers, even when dealing with the majority of sellers who are honest, it is important to know what you are bidding on, in terms of who the artist is, if the work is signed (or merely attributed to the artist) and what the market value of the artist’s work currently is.
